Scientific Name: BELLADONNA Atropa L. 

Family: Solanaceae 

Contains: iosciamina atropine, scopolamina and other alkaloids. 

Parts used: roots, leaves, stems and flowers. 

And perennial herbaceous plant with a large rhizome from which you develop a strong stem, erect and branched, height ranging from 70-150 cm. 

The leaves are simple, petiolate, oval-lanceolata, alternate in the upper leaves smaller, as the stem, are covered with glandular hairs responsible for the unpleasant odor emanated from the plant. 

The flowers are hermaphrodite, axillary and pendula, presenting a cup to 5 sepals and a corolla with 5 petals form bellflower-tubule and dark purple in color; l 'androceo has 5 stamens with anthers very developed, the gineceo from an ovary biloculare with unique stylus and stigma bifido. 

The belladonna flowers in summer and 'is entomogama pollination (by insects). The fruits are shiny black berries, small, surrounded by glass which, during maturation, is increased by opening a star.
